 | CASTLE OF SANTUERI
Situated on a 408 m high cliff at the southeast of Felanitx. It covers an area of 426 are and is protected by towers, walls and cliffs.
The name proceeds from the latin Santuarium, temple, which allows for the suppositios that this polace had religious activity during the roman domination or even at earlier, prehistoric times. The Arabswere the builders of the castle and the latin name "Castri de Santueri" is already documented in 1228.
King Jaume I conquered it in 1231. During the 14th century, many alterations and renovations were undertaken.
